Backwaters on Sand Key. You can get a seat on the back deck overlooking the Waterway.

For casual lunch and of the Frenchys locations are great, esp the Clearwater beach one. Also one of my fave places is called Mystic Fish, I guess it is in Countryside area, on Tampa Rd (aka Hillsborough). Splash on Van Dyke in Lutz/Tampa is also very good

We like really good sea food and will pay the price for good food. We were pleasantly surprised when visiting Ft Lauderdale or Lauderhill Florida from where we live we live on the SE coast of Florida.

We are now silly over Joe's Crab Shack and travel over an hour each way to the closest Joe's. Our taste buds tell us they are A B C Delicous...Our friends sy the same and we are going again next week.

There is one in Clearwater if you wanna try it here is the info. They do have informal eating and don't be surprised if you love this spot too.....Tell um your taste buds sent you and you must try a bucket or two of their mussels....YUMMY......I am not an owner or employee of Joe's but I approve of this message....YUMMY YUM YUM hahahaha

Joe's Crab Shack - Clearwater - 2730 Gulf to Bay Blvd.

Haven't been there yet, but I've heard good things about Rusty Belly's at the end of the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs.. They have their own fishing boats that bring in fresh seafood daily.

Check out ABC Seafood in St. Pete on 54th Ave. It's an authentic Chinese restaurant but you can get really fresh seafood. It's in a rusty strip mall but inside it's quaint and simplistic with large seafood tanks for you to see exactly what you're getting. The menu is extensive (huge!) and the servers are friendly and will help you out if you're not sure what to order. Complimentary coconut-melon soup with every meal - yum!

followup: We decided to eat at the Beachhouse in Anna Maria since we were in town visiting the ringling museum. We were very pleased with our meals.

Thanks for all the suggestions and we will try some of these out in the future.

You just can't beat the Beach House for that waterfront ambiance - that is worth the price of the meal right there!
