Here's a good tip

If you go to Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg maybe an hour before sunset and stand near the wall facing the pier, you are very likely to see dolphins swim right up within a few feet of you. They push the fish toward the wall and eat them. I've seen them there many times -- it is the number one thing I will miss! So I pass it along to you

Here's one I saw the other day:

Thank you for the tip.....we are going to St Pete next week for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. I have never seen dolphins so it would be a blast to see this! Any other places or things like this you can recommend? Thank you!

I've seen them swimming parallel to the beach all along St Pete Beach and through Clearwater Pass. Some were pretty close to shore but I've never seen one up close and personal in the wild... Oh, I've also seen a couple do little flippy things in John's Pass.

Basically they are all around St Pete and Tampa Bay area, sitting at the BayFront pier you will eventually see them or from one of the bridges or piers around Fort Desoto,or they like to hang around Pass-a-Grille but you'll see them just about anywhere sooner or later/

I use to job through that park when I lived in St. Pete and spotted dolphins almost everyday. It is a great area to live and enjoy. One of the few places I miss about St. Pete.

Pasadena. There is a boat that offers dolphin scenic boat rides. There is a pod of Dolphins right there in that area, and it is free.

It will definately depend on the time of year and water temp......the dolphin are trying to "herd" up Mullet against the seawall.......

No Mullet to herd.....no dolphins to watch.

Absolutely a "hit or miss" situation.......the OP may have "hit it" more times than "missed it"......but by no means do any marine creatures do the same thing in the same area year round.......

The aquatic world is just too "fluid"...no pun intended....tides, water temp, weather systems, barometer, water clarity, hours of daylight, mating seasons, ect, ect......

The only place you can see dolphins at a specific time and place every time.......is an aquarium.
