Can anyone shed some insight onto why the tap water has a sulphur smell coming from it??? We were told not to use tap water without a filter, but ok for showering...

I had a similar problem and was told to drain the hot water tank. This may not be your problem since mine was noticeable when I first turned on the hot water.

Maybe someone who lives in Zephyrhills can tell you if they have the same problem.

Did you call the water co?

Is it city water or well water? If it's well water, you might just be stuck with a property that has quite a bit of sulfur underneath. Only remedy I know of is to get a water treatment system. If it's city...call them and ask them why their water stinks (literally).

Is this a new property? Sometimes you get that from new properties due to having impurities in the pipes from the build. Letting all the faucets/showers run for quite a number of minutes (maybe even an hour or so) might help this. Sometimes it can take a month or more(of regular use) to get rid of the smell completely, though.

Its city water and we are in a brand new home that is barely a year old....Thanks I will call the water department.

I found it strange for Zephyrhills to make bottled water and to have city water with a stinch...

Well.. I know when I first moved to Tampa many many years ago, during the summer all city water did have an odor that was caused by hot weather. The city eventually fixed it.

I had a new hotwater heater (less than a year old) that had the sulphur smell. Draining the hotwater tank fixed it.
