Well heck, just when I thought I had it narrowed down to the Tampa area, my gf that lives near Sarasota said that it would be a much better choice. What are the differences between the Tampa area and Sarasota? Hubby is going to retire early so we have our choice of where to go.
I've always lived near the water and very rarely go to a beach. I like to gamble and hear Tampa has that. I don't mind traffic. We eat out a lot so I'd like choices of where to go. I live in a town that has ONE grocery chain that sells all foods from Mexico so would love a place with several choices and stores that don't sell select quality meat. Oh I miss prime and choice!
I'm used to a tropical area but would still like a little lower humidity which both places in Fl have.....but do I go near the water for warm winters and lower humidity or inland?
I'd move to Orlando in a heartbeat if they weren't so hot and humid feeling in the summer. I love having so much to choose from to do. I love the town circle in Hollywood with its cafes and outdoor bands but it's so far out of the way.
So the Sarasota area or Tampa area are what I'm looking at. Could you please help me out and give me your ideas of both places and what they have to offer? Is there a casino near Sarasota? I love to gamble. Sports and yoga are out, sitting on a beach is out.....but watching a beautiful sunset in a restaurant is awesome. I'm partially disabled so physical things don't interest me.
Dog shows we love
I hope that gives you a feel for us and maybe you can give us some advice on areas please?
(I'm posting this in the Tampa and Sarasota areas on the board)

No matter where you live south of Orlando, it is going to be hot and humid most of the year! You say you like to gamble. I hope that is not your only priority. The Seminole Casino in Tampa is on the outskirts of the city. It is not in a central areal.
If you like being stuck in traffic all day, if you don't care that you need to drive to do anything, if you don't really care what kind of neighborhood you live in. Then Tampa would be fine. I tend to agree with your girlfriend however. Sarasota is a much pleasanter place to live. However it is also a much more expensive place to live. I myself prefer St Petersburg, and you can always take the boat ride out to the Suncoast Casino gambling boat. It that's what really moves you.
