was thinking about a place in the area of state rte.19 & 58ave.North.. is that shady oaks area and burnside lealman area? looking at a winter rental..any input would be helpful crime,general look, we do fish. not much on the night life...note like to eat!!! lol..thanks

I wouldn't really want a house there. That's in Lealman, which is an unincorporated area that's fighting off annexation by St. Petersburg, Kenneth City, and Pinellas Park. It is one of the poorest areas of the county.

It's not really a high crime area as far as I know. It's fairly rundown-looking, but that's probably due to its working-class roots and what may be a substantial number of rental properties. That stretch of 34th Street North (US 19) is particularly bland.

There are, however, some good places to eat along US 19.

Try nearer to beaches, or nearer to downtown St Pete. There is plenty to rent, but beaches will be come expensive around winter season with snowbirds.
