I know Florida does not have a personal income tax, but do you pay any kind of city taxes? Where I live now we pay both state and city among many others. thanks.

No city taxes, if you own property, property tax.

You will however, see different sales tax rates for different areas. The state has a fixed rate, but allows local entities to add to it as they see fit. Tampa, for example has an additional percent sales tax to pay for the Bucs stadium.

No they just rob you here by increased sales tax instead. In MI I pay state income tax and if I work in Grand Rapids city tax comes out of my check but the sales tax here is 6%.

I believe sales tax is 7% in Pinellas, a little higher than some surrounding counties to help pay for the Bucs and a stupid bike trail that at any given time you may see a lone bike rider or roller skater using.

No city or state tax, period. There is property tax if you're a real-estate owner. The sales tax is 7% which is pretty standard compared to most places.

ok thanks. That is really good news. Our sales tax is close to 8% here so no state, city, and lower sales tax will be helpful.

No city or state tax, but they still have to get their money one way or another. Property taxes are high.
