Have you tried spray bottle when he scratches? I did this for my cat when she was clawing at the furniture. It worked for that. I am not sure how you can "catch" him scratching a person and be able to spray him. Just a thought.

That was what we did when we didn't know what else to do to get him off the tables.......I also have the spray that Pet Smart has and that is useless! I think it is a complete rip off as it doesn't work at all......and it stinks too......and he is still all over the counters!!!!!!!! the only issue with that is that my daughter will also get wet.......LOL

If the kids are still getting scratched he needs to check the claws every day. Do you understand how a cat's claws grow? They are sheathed. This is why they scratch on trees, it's to pull off the old dull sheaths and reveal the fresh sharp ones underneath. So anytime he uses his scratching post there is a possibility that a sharp claw will be revealed.
