I have been looking at alot of homes in the tampa area for the past 4 months (on-line) The prices are right for what I am looking for but the outdoor surroundings are all the same. I would like a home with no pond or golf course and free to do as I wish with my home. Are most homes in communities. Are there areas where homes are truely private? I am looking in the Wesley Chapel area. I'm not dead set on this area but looking for something near to downtown tampa.

Wesley Chapel is no where near downtown Tampa and yes, most of the homes in this area are in residential neighborhoods with deed restrictions. You might have better luck looking around Temple Terrace (zip 33617). It's a nice area with no to very low HOA and much closer to downtown Tampa. The homes are going to be much older though, e.g., 50s-80s.

Karen is right... Wesley Chapel and New Tampa are all HOA havens. Check out Seminole Heights if you don't mind even older homes. You do need to be sure you choose west of I 275 though.

Thank you. I will change my search. Not happy about the older homes but I might get lucky if the home was taken care of and upgraded some. Thanks again.
