I graduated from Largo High too. I've lost a few kids I went to school with too, including a reasonably close friend.

needless to say, amongst us late 20-somethingers who all grew up in the area, largo and pinellas park are white trash at best, i wouldnt live in either for all the money in the world, not necessarily because of danger, but just quality of neighborhoods.
Pinellas Park is pretty bad, but Largo is big enough that you can find some very nice areas.

I still hate it though.

My son is just graduating this summer. He and his class have done pretty well. The school has its share of high achievers, average students and others. It has some diversity, but predominantly white still. Little trouble, but not none, has had it's moments. Very strong community, as seen by the rallying around families of 3 boys from there (and one from Largo) killed in an auto accident almost one year ago. Not mad about the principal, and some of the teachers, but that can be any school.
Several students I know have got into FSU (honors included), UF, USF, UCF, New College, FGCU and others going on to out of state (particularly sporting scholars on scholarships). Very good men/womens soccer programs, both teams got to state finals this season. Good baseball and pretty decent basketball, athletics and excellent swimming too. Football program is dreadful. Brilliant band, often attending major national events, like Macy's Rosebowl. Grades have slipped of late, I like to think they will address this. In all not bad.

Seminole is the school I wanted to go to. They're one of the better high school in Pinellas. Their athletics are pretty subpar from what I remember though.
