In Detroit we have 2 daily newspapers. One leans left and one right. Can anyone recommend a right leaning news source in the Tampa Bay area?

Right leaning, Tampa Tribune. The writing is kind of boring to read. Left leaning, St. Petersburg Times. More creative writing, even articles on the same event. Goes into more details.

Example: a truck turned over and spilled its load on a local street. Tampa Tribune gave just a few dry facts. St. Pete, found out who the driver was, how the accident happened, where the driver was from, etc.

I have no clue about their political preferences, but we have two primary daily newspapers (and several other community and ethnic papers). The two biggies are The Tampa Tribune and The St. Pete Times. Both are also on the internet co-mingled with their media affiliates at TBO.com and Tampabay.com.

St Pete times is definitely a more liberal newspaper, Tribune I can't speak of, I do know that St Pete Times is a very well respected and often awarded and also long running newspaper.

If you want right wing, go with the Tampa Tribune, but it's owned by huge corporation and is as dry as toast. Good sports section, though. I've never thought the St. Pete Times particularly liberal-it's just not conservative. There is a difference.

I believe the Tampa Trib is owned by the Chicago Trib Co. The CT has been staunchly conservative for a hundred years but it seems to me that they are getting a bit less conservative - they actually endorsed some Democrats in the last couple of elections.

I think they "try" to appear middle of the road. St. Pete endorsed some republicans in the last elections.

"Dry as toast", that is a good description.

I have a neighbor who bought got a subscription to both newspapers for 3 months to see which one they preferred.

It doesn't matter, just pick up one of the papers: If you want a conservative, just start every artical with, "Because of President Obama:" and for liberal, insert: "The republicans..." Problem solved!

The Tampa Tribune was bought by the Tampa Bay Times leaving Tampa with one newspaper. The Times is ultra liberal. Even though it said they will keep some of the Tribunes columnists and present both the conservative and liberal sides. After reading this rag for the last few weeks, I am desperate to find another paper in the Tampa Bay area with my conservative values. Tampa Tribune, you have done a great injustice to many of us by selling out.
