Hi. I have posted on this before, but we are back to square one. Questions about the area of Palm Harbor and maybe Tarpon Springs-here they are:

1. Approx average age of people there?
2. Are there a lor of FAMILY ORIENTED neighborhoods where all the neighbors get together and have little parties, Halloween parties with the kids etc?
3. How many northeners are there year round?
4. Christian population vs Jewish population.( we live in a very heavily populated Catholic area in Louisiana now and Lent is everywhere on menus here to accommadate them-do they do that there?)
5. Muscial theatre classes and gymnastics classes for 7 year old children?
6. heard the public schools are bad-here too! How hard is it to get a child into a private school? Are there religious private schools?
7.How friendly are the people in thoae areas? Eye contact when at stores or just look down with unfriendliness?

I know some of these questions are weird, but we live in a great area and are thinking of moving back to Florida to be closer to family. The only negative thing about where we live is that we are far from family. Now, we have great friends and neighbors but that is not the same. Any other information would be great. We had checked out Palm Harbor 5 years ago before we moved here instead and liked it then-I wonder how much it has changed.....

Thanks in advance

Tarpon Springs is a big Greek Orthodox community, however it is also a tourist attraction. Most other neighborhoods in the Tampa Bay area are not religion oriented.

We had a jewish member here a while back that complained about not being able to find certain items. Sorry I do not remember exactly.

Thanks for your reply. It is hard to judge things from here in Louisiana, but hoping more will respond to my questions! Appreciate your time!

We have relatives living in Palm Harbor in a lovely neighborhood (but not sure of what the neighborhood is called, sorry). We were there close to Christmas and many of the homes were decorated and there was a 'Christmas parade' viewing of the homes organized. Folks were sitting out in the driveway as we walked by, large groups of neighbors together visiting. It made me think that it was a very friendly neighborhood. My relative tells me that Halloween, Easter and July 4th have similar themes of decorating the homes and walking around, admiring the beauty (although Christmas is the 'big' event for the year). As I walked through the neighborhood, with my disabled son, folks waved, said 'hi' and even some teens, hanging out on a corner, said hi to us. We normally only get stares so this surprised the heck out of. We've visited 4 times, at different times throughout the year, and have always been greeted as we walked through the neighborhood.

I like Palm Harbor.

Woah, any chance you can fine the name of that neighborhood? Sounds amazing, like a time warp to 40 - 50 years ago. Love it!

Palm Harbor has ppl of all ages, it will depends on where you live. Mostly young couples with children, except for areas that are exclusive for seniors.
I believe there are ppl of all religious beliefs, not any one more predominant over the others.
It is not hard at all to get your child into a private school, if that is what you wish to do.
The ppl ,IMHO, are mostly friendly.

all these wonderful replies thanks a lot! I think Palm Harbor is a good choice, but it is kinda scary leaving here especially becasue we do love it so much. If you can possible get the name of that neighborhood, that would be great-then I can google real estate for sale and see if any are for sale....y'all sound like great people!
