Hi, I've found a few possible jobs in Tampa and am considering a move from upstate ny to Tampa bay area. The main job I'm looking at is right near the Florida Aquarium(best landmark i could find sorry) I want to live close to best beaches and best nightlife, but also not have a very long(40+ min) commute to work everyday. I am young and mainly want to be on/near the ocean and the beach, but I really don't know all that much about Tampa Bay Area. I'm also concerned about crime, not as much as some, but still taking it into consideration being a young(23) skinny white male. Any suggestions?

Do you want Beach or Nightlife or Proxmity to work? Nightlife and Prox to work is a no brainer, you could enjoy walking to work living in downtown Tampa, Channelside, Harbour Island areas. Waterfront access, but no beaches. About a 35-40 min drive to Gulf beaches. Rocky Point area has Bay beaches, but a longer commute to work(25 minutes no traffic); and about a 25 min drive to Clearwater Beach.

OR you could commute to work and live in downtown St. Pete which would be about a 15 min drive to the Gulf beaches and about 30 min to Channelside area of Tampa.

I agree with the above stated. There is alot of action in the downtown Tampa, Channelside area. Look into Hyde Park as well.
