OK to answer the OP....again....

The Weeki Wachee is perfectly safe. You can paddle all up and down the Weeki Wachee, flying a rainbow flag from the back of your canoe while whistling show tunes, and you won't get a look from a racist.

I guess it should be obvious they are all racist because they're rural, right?

Or did I misunderstand and you only meant rural towns in FL?

Exactly why is it obvious rural Brooksville, FL is racist?
Being a small, rural town in FL, I just think it's obvious there is going to be some racism. I'm sure there are racists in NH, CA, Wyoming and Nebraska too, but since it's about Brooksville, I mentioned FL.

OK I'm gonna come out and say it...this whole thread is stupid.

Are there racists in Brooksville? Yes, I'm sure there are. There are racists in San Francisco...New York...Miami...Paris...Moscow...so saying "I believe there are racists in Brooksville" is a "duh" statement. Racists exist everywhere.

Is racism a larger problem in Brooksville than anywhere else? I don't know...I've never heard of major issues there though. Is the fact that Brooksville is a small town in the south a reason to say that it's got racism problems? Maybe, but not necessarily, and out-and-out saying it like some blanket statement would definitely be offensive to people from there.

Is that flag on the Weeki Wachee a sign that racism exists? Not necessarily. Could it be? Maybe, but most people that fly rebel flags aren't trying to make racist statements...as other people have said, it's akin to hanging a Puero Rican flag from your rear view mirror, or the like. Pride in your heritage, or whatever.

I hope this puts this ridiculous issue to rest.

And the Weeki Wachee isn't in Brooksville, it's up by Spring Hill and Crystal River.

Weeki Wachee is nowhere near Crystal River but it is awful close to Brooksville.
