That's a lie. Those numbers are wrong, they misplaced the decimal. It's really 1.3 percent, things are great in the job market here, it's expanding, the jobs on Monster are legit and real, and it's just the negative nay-sayers from out of town that make it look bad here!

Most people won't dispute the fact that Florida has high unemployment numbers but that does not mean that some don't come here and post fabrications or repetitively post the same thing over and over.

There are certain people that could not make it in Florida and blame the state for their short comings and use every chance they can to bash the state whether deserved or not.

It really comes down to whether it is useful information or not.

I do agree with this, all tho I know a few who don't do that..........

Anyway, what most people seem to either forget or not take into account, is that each field has been affected by this recession differently!...........for example, tourism, service jobs in that field may have been lost because tourism has gone down a few notches.....on the other hand the call centers seem to be hiring and don't seem to have that problem.......of course if you're looking for construction jobs you'll be disappointed as the demand has gone down a lot of notches in that field, and that includes architects, builders, contractors, etc......not just hourly workers nailing down trusses......

All these "surveys" are useless because they only take into account the construction industry which has been hit the hardest, while other people in other fields are doing just fine! BUT BECAUSE construction has been so "popular" recently, of course they will choose THAT as a reference point.....this is like saying the the entire Tampa bay has 300k residents......NOT True, ONLY the City of Tampa, within its limits has 300k residents....the entire Tampa Bay has a few millions......

I am sure that the unemployment is not as bad over the entire Tampa bay area, but there are fields who suffered more than others, which is why all these surveys to me are a waste of time.....all they do is create useless stress .......like this article which talks about how my generation needs $3million dollars to retire! WHAT?.......OK! I'll start playing the lottery now!

The Construction industry is related to many other businesses. Mortgage, Real Estate brokerage, Furniture stores, Yard companies, and all other stores related to anything that has to do with a new home...

We all probable have noticed that most of the illegals have left the area and to me the builders should have been penalized for hiring illegals and not American or legal workers. Some have gotten penalties/fines.

So many families have been feeling the snow ball effect of the bad housing market and now with the health care bill even more people will loose their job and I wonder how happy some will be with their health care in 10 years from now....I know what is ahead since I lived in Europe and had a chance to compare 2 systems because we had experienced it in both systems...without having some one in my family getting sick over here, I wouldn't have found out as much and to be honest...when you live in the socialist health care system you have no clue that things can be so different, since you are born, grow up and don't know any other system and when the employer pays his part and the employee is paying their part before you get your money in your bank account, it doesn't feel that you are paying for it.
Just like 19% VAT is not feeling that it is so much when taxes are incl. compared to overhere where sales tax (6 or 7%) is added at the cash register, so you really notice it.

People have the strange thing to think it is for free when they don't pay it straight out of their pocket...

Agree with ya Mike. I don't see the people who came, got jobs, lived happily ever after complaining. Its the "I couldnt make it anywhere so I came to FL and it sucks" crowd that posts the negatives.

Unhappy is unhappy no matter where you go.

I am awaiting to see if my employer will allow me to work from Tampa. If they so no, I am most likely moving this year, but next so I can save some additional monies.

The unemployment numbers right now are intimidating.

The people who are living happily ever after probablly have something better to do than use a relocation forum for a social life.

Not true-I've "made it" (whatever that means) in Florida and I think it sucks plenty. Just my opinion, of course.
