Hello - we are a family from Dayton, Ohio moving to the Tampa area. We have found a lovely home in the Bayside West Subdivision.

Does anyone have any info on this area? We are not too familiar with Tampa, but want to be within 30 min. or so to St. Pete beach.

Thanks in advance for your input!

It's a pretty nice part of town, close to all of south Tampa's amenities. The Gandy bridge is nearby for access to Pinellas county (including St. Pete).

Thats my neighborhood, very strong City of Tampa neighborhood association,(here is the association website>>Bayside West Neighborhood Association,Tampa, Florida) minimal crime in this area, 1800 homes - its actually a mix of a few older neighborhoods(Guensey Estates, Alice Subdivision), most the homes were built post war(40s and 50s), Westshore Blvd around the Euclid/El Prado Blvd area is the 'main street' with a bunch of restaurants, services(banks, cleaners, convenience, gas, florist, pharmacy, meat market, auto, etc.), retail, businesses..the Farmers Market is excellent(Gardn of Eaton). Manhatten to the East also has lots of retail, services.

Easy access to all of South Tampa and downtown Tampa is about 10 minutes, straight run to Westshore Business District(about 5 mins). Some of the nicest beaches are wtihin 30 minutes(Fort DeSoto, Pass-a-Grille). Bus line just in case is #19. Post Office is on Oakeller. Library is on Manhatten Blvd. Very convenient, most everything you need is walking distance or within a mile or two.

Welcome!!

Thank you so much for the input. The area in particular is off of Longboat. Would you say this is a family friendly area? We have kids ranging from elementary to high school and are hoping it will be an easy transition for them, with options for making friends before school starts in the fall. Do you know anything about kids sports in the area? We usually participate in baseball/softball and basketball here and hope to put the kids in the same opportunities there.

Thanks for any input!

Oh, wow, i thoguht you were speaking of a City of Tampa neighborhood, Bayside West. What you are actually asking about is in the area of Town n Country. Im not too familiar with the schools in that area of Hillsborough County. It is a nice area though, south of Hillsborough Avenue along the Bay. Easy access to Westshore District and Airport areas.

TampaGuy,
Your Bayside West Neighborhood Assn newsletter is dated winter 2008. What gives?

I was impressed with your description of your neighborhood.

I lived about 3 miles from Bayside for 41 years in Danashores. It's a nice place compared to Town&Country as it has really gone down hill with crime and gangs.
