My husband is in talks to accept a position in St Pete later this summer. We have 4 kids, all school-age and good schools are a major factor in our move. My husband has heard good things about Parish, but I am concerned about the commute time into St Pete.

We saw some posts from a few years ago about commute times but would like some updated info. Also, we would love input about other great areas close to the St Pete area. We would have a hard time not having a yard, garden & chickens, but schools, community and commute are more important.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Parrish is very rural, not sure that the schools will be what you want.
If you want public schools within 20 mins of st pete area, then I'd go Seminole, great community, reasonably easy for St Pete for work, close to beaches, good schools, reasonable prices, but then most areas are reasonable right now. You can't keep chickens though. Check Manatee county schools and ensure you can get your children into the right ones - there are some scary situations there, as anywhere else in the bay area, if you get the schools wrong, it can be a big problem.

thank you Lavender - I noticed you have a post about beekeeping as well - is that allowed in the city limits?
