My family is moving to the Tampa area this summer. We are looking at the Odessa and Lutz areas because of the good schools and proximity to my husband's work. What are the best neighborhoods in those areas? I have three sons, 10,8, and 5 that are very into sports. We are looking in the 600-700 range. We are not that worried about a big lot, etc. we just want lots of activities and a great community. Thanks!!

If you are interested in new construction check out Stonebrier. The elementary (McKitrick), middle (Martinez) and new high school (Steinbrenner) are really the best 1-2-3 punch in the entire Tampa Bay area. Check the web site Schooldigger.com and the numbers back up my statement.

I would suggest either Cheval in Lutz or Keystone Colony in Odessa merely for the public school assignments. There are other beautiful neighborhoods in Lutz (Sanctuary on Livingston particularly and Wellington), and in Odessa (Eagles and Grey Hawk) but the assigned schools are not highly rated as as the ones assigned to Cheval and Keystone. If you are considering private school for your children, then the others are good options as well. If you are sending the children to public schools, you should pick the school(s), then choose your residence accordingly. We bought our house this way over 25 years ago, and it's still applicable today.

Thank you both for your information.

These two towns are also on our list of towns when we get to head to Florida.

Schools are vital and for both of your to add the information is great.

Thanks

Sunny

I just remembered that Cheval is split and is assigned to different schools. Whichever neighborhood you choose, please verify the address with the school board before you assume the house is assigned to the school you want.

If you have time when you are there run the boys over the Clearwater Beach and let them have some fun at the beach!

Good Luck!
