Brandon and Rocky Point? (Tampa, Campbell: rent, safe area, place to live)

hi all,

I'm relocating to tampa (from orlando) by May 1st and am looking for a place to live..

I'm by myself with two cats so a 1 bedroom is sufficient. my price range is $600-$800 (the place has got to be perfect for me to spend 800 though).

my work is located just north of the airport.

I know the commute from brandon can be up to an hour with traffic but I'm pretty willing to do that if rent is cheap and it seems to be close / easy access to the more fun parts of town.

I'm also considering rocky point b/c I looove the water and also hear it's a younger part of town. I heard rent isn't too bad there but I'm having some trouble finding places and the ones I've found are way over my budget.

safe area is very important to me.

I guess what I'm asking if anyone can recommend specific communities or specific areas to help me narrow it down a bit.. I'll be in town saturday to start looking

Brandon isn't a really a young single person's area, more family oriented. You might want to check out Westshore area too. Rocky Point would be closer plus you would be going the opposite to most traffic if you are going north. There is a lot of traffic getting on the Courtney Campbell during rush hour. You can also check out S. Tampa.

Hopefully one of our members who just moved to Westshore area from Brandon will jump in and give you HO.
