They used to have photo radar up here in the school zones. People took them to court repeatedly stating it was against the law since they never were spoken to by a cop and could not face their accuser in court. Other things people argued was, they couldn't prove it was them driving. Eventually so many people were winning in court the city quit the program and cancelled their contract with the private company the hired to do photo radar.

Wait until they start shortening the duration of the yellow lights to "improve driver safety."

Any google search will show you that cities do this once drivers catch on.

I never got a ticket in my life for running a red light. I stop. See three and for cars to on though in the lane beside me that had plenty of time to stop. I hope they crack down so hard even with a night in jail. My wife has a sister full of pins and screws because someone thought their time was to valuable to stop for a red light.

I've been driving in Germany for the last 20+ yrs and really appreciate the way they do things there - they've had these cameras for years - along w/ cameras that take your picture when you're over the speedlimit - I've got flashed a couple of times by these - but they've probably saved my life by making me slow down because you never know where these cameras are hiding. Germans have driving down to a science.

You are serious? You like them. In the Netherlands people hate them...for driving 34 km in a 30 km zone you get flashed and your ticket in the mail...ridiculous!

It doesn't make driving more safe since most roads are with curves and you are looking more to what your speed is then watching the road!

The Germans have a little more leeway than 4 km.

autobahns don't have any speed limits though, right??

If you don't wanna get dumb speed camera tickets, get a gps that has the option of loading your own custom points of interest. Then, download the list of all speed cameras in north america, and you are all set. Once you get close to an intersection with speed cameras, you get a warning on your gps.
Safe driving is nice and everything, but these cameras cause more accidents and do more damage than they do good. Get careless drivers (texters and those that talk on the phone) off the road and roads will be much safer.
