My partner and I will be moving in August, from Boston. He's in his mid 40's and I'm in my late 40's, though neither of us act it.

We want to get out of Boston because of the expensive cost of living, the weather, and the attitude.

We've saved enough to be able to make this move without having jobs when we get there. We'd like to keep the rent at about $800 a month in a safe area. Will we have a problem finding someone to rent to us without jobs?

He's a master sushi chef and I'm a bookkeeper / marketer. I would also be interested in a bartender job although I haven't done that for about twenty years.

We're also both semi-pro poker players so a very important criteria for us is to be within a half hour drive of the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa.

Based on all of this does anyone have thoughts or suggestions on where we should live? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

House? Townhome?

We live in Wesley Chapel/New Tampa. 20 min from Hard Rock. Live in a 1700 sq ft townhome and pay 950.00.

There were a few we found in this area when we moved down here that were in your range so you just have to search!

Best of luck.

You will have a VERY hard time finding a place to rent with no steady income if you cant prove you do. Job or not doesn't matter- income matters.

800 a month is reasonable- and there are no shortage of sushi resturants in tampa, so the job market for a sushi chef i am sure is adequate taking into account the general state of our economy. I wouldn't advertise to a potential landlord you are a semi-pro poker player if that is your primary source of income, as it would be a gamble to rent property to you. No pun intended

You'll find what you are looking for in that price range. you may be in luck renting privately (craigslist) as there are no management companies setting income/job requirements. look into the brandon area as it is right near the casino (5 mins), 10 mins from downtown on the crosstown, and cheaper to live.
