Hello,

We are heading down to Tampa/St. Pete to check out the area and make some decisions on location for our move later this summer. Could anyone suggest fun, inexpensive activities for us to check out. We'll be driving around lots and our survival will depend upon having options for our 3 year old to enjoy!

Thanks for your ideas.

I highly recommend the Tampa Aquarium, it is not free, but they have some nice exhibits and the kids will love it. It also has a kids water fun play area.

You can get a 10% discount with AAA or your hotel may have coupons. Bring a towel and swimsuit. The water section is a lot of fun and no deep ends. They have a bar/snack area for parents.

The Lowry Park Zoo (again, not cheap) is nice and has some sprinklers your kid can splash around in (bring swimsuit and towel). It use to be (I don't know the current status) the best family zoo.

There is always the beach. Bring buckets and shovel to play in the sand. Some beaches have playgrounds. Other than the parking and or tolls, it is free.

Busch Gardens (not cheap) has a new kiddie section that is good for 3 year old.

There are playgrounds in many communities. Just be careful the slides aren't too hot to go on.

Our four year old granddaughter loved the free bird sanctuary that is located in or just south of Indian Rocks Beach. The playground at Pier 60 in Clearwater Beach is another favorite. She absolutely loved the zoo; the large tank where children can touch sting rays was worth the price of admission. Oh, and the children's museum in St. Pete is excellent.
