Here is the place to chat..

Find something great about Tampa you want to share.. put it here. Stop by and just say 'Hi'

Not that we want just complaints here but if you need to vent about crime or traffic you can do it here.

Default New Cuban sandwich place....

Keeper, I'm glad you've started a chat room for Tampans......should be fun!

Being a third-generation Tampan with roots in Ybor City I've had more than my share of Cuban sandwiches; and from a variety of places. A month ago I was heading east on Hillsborough Ave from Himes and saw a sandwich shop called Aquila.....it's on the corner of Jamaica.

I popped in and ordered a large Cuban, pressed, along with a cafe con leche. Wow! The sandwich was easily a foot long (!) and tasted great. The bread was authentic, the pork was roasted, and the ham and salami tasted like the good stuff.

I'd like to hear from other forum members about other places that have good Cubans -- and any other quality latin food as well.

Have you been to the La Bamba on Laurel St and Westshore? Good cubans and pork.. I also loved their breakfast sandwich, egg, cheese and ham or bacon on cuban bread toasted.

Have you ever been to Moxie's on Kennedy.. Don't know about cubans there but OMG the sandwiches are HUGH.

I think everyone should see the Rawls Road Christmas display. They are located north of Erhlich Road and west of Dale Mabry (Ben Hill Jr. High area). It is nothing like I've ever seen before with miles of lights and figurines all synchronized to music. They have been featured on several local TV stations as well as HGTV. It's a park and walk display. They will take donations to help defray costs, but there's no requirement. They have a website, but it does no justice to the awesome display. I went twice last year and hope to do the same this year. I can't seem to find when it starts this year though. Last year it was around December 15.

Post a new thread and be sure to put what area your work is in or at least the street where it is located. Are you concerned about schools? Are you buying or renting? What is your budget?

This will give everyone a chance to give you their opinions.
