I'm curious what the highest demand subjects are in your district?
Here, it's FSL (French as a second language), ESL (I live in Quebec, 90% of students are French-speaking) and special education (as always). Surprisingly, the sciences are NOT in demand. Spanish is also in moderate-demand.

ESOL, LD, librarians, reading teachers, HS math and science. There are still a good number of elementary classroom positions advertised.

2. WIlling to work for $35K or less
3. Must take on 4-6 hours after school responsibilities a week
4. Accept classroom of 35+ students
5. Work with little resources
6. Write lesson plans above and beyond CCSS
7. Football coaching expeience a HUGE plus...
8. All students will pass standardized test and show 200% improvement

German and special ed. The sciences are not in demand here either. In fact, they're badly glutted. I did get an invitation to interview at a charter school in Pontiac. I'm in Detroit. It would only be a 30 mile commute one way. Unfortunately, it's a charter school which means the pay is in the low 30's and I can't live off of that let alone afford to replace my car so I can handle the commute so I'm still looking.
SPED and believe it or not, band teachers. Instrumental music teachers, specifically band instructors, seem to come and go quickly. I think there's quite a bit of burnout in this.
Teachers with any kind of coaching abilities will have a much better shot at employment.
