We plan on retiring in a few years and are thinking about TN. Never have been there, but heard it was nice. Looking for a place that is a horse community. Don't mind a little snow, but not a fan of high humidity. Thanks

You will find a little less humidity in the higher elevations of east Tennessee. There are many places in Tennessee where you can purchase enough land to be able to use for horses. I personally like the Cookeville/Monterey/Crossville areas. I will be retiring near Monterey, TN in 5 to 6 years.

Default Check out the Jamestown/Allardt area

Check out the Jamestown/Allardt area. The land is reasonably priced and there are hundreds of miles of horse trails in the Big South Fork State Park.

Couple of TN cities on there.

Average Relative Humidity(%)

A bit outdated, but I can't imagine humidity levels vary that much.

TN does enjoy varied flora and fauna- but we do have the accompanying humidity to contend with as well.
Where are you coming from?

We loved TN in our travels, and I could've easily selected any of the spots for our "Mayberry," but my DH shares your aversion to humidity, so we passed.

I especially liked Chattanooga, and Maryville. Chattanooga has a great Aquarium that specializes on the Tennessee River Valley riparian critters, along with other rivers, and the coasts. Maryville (just outside Knoxville) has a very walking trail in town, an nice small town feel, and a great library.

Good luck in your search! 8)

Well if you don't like the humidity, you really don't want to move to FL. That's for sure! I looked at the charts and like you said a little out dated. It sure seems a little off for FL. Because it SURE is HOT here. Almost unbearable. I hope it doesn't get this hot in TN. I might have to hibernate in the summer.
At 9:50am this morning temp was 86 but feels like 95 with 72% humidity, but that was in the morning it will change this afternoon

It is a hotter than usual summer this year, but this week it has been 86 and 95 degrees at 7 am. The humidity has been awful. I hope we see temps cool down some soon.

Is it still that far off? When is your next visit to your property?
