I was at Siesta Key in March. We have lots of family in that neck of the woods. Bermuda has my favorite beaches. I've been there three times. I also love Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts and Kennebunkport, Maine.

Siesta Key is better than most Florida beaches, as is Sanibel, Captiva and a few others, but it will never be my thing. It's just too nouveau riche.

Our summer's are normally wretched, but this one has me on a whole new level of misery. If this is what Florida's summers are like, then I'll do everything in my power to never set foot in that state again. Although I've been to Florida once in late September, and that was one time too many.

However, I just checked the temperature and heat index for Key West. With their currently higher dew point, their heat index is actually slightly higher than our actual current temperature (103). Of course, our heat index is several degrees higher still. And it is supposed to cool down next week a little. But unless it's cooling down to 60 or so, it's still going to be horrible summer weather. Oh well, in another 2 months maybe I'll start to be almost comfortable again.

I came here from West Palm Beach. Summer here was a breeze until this one. I have been here 3 years this month. This is not normal, but I can still feel the difference between here and FL. I will still take TN everytime. It is less humid than FL. I can feel the difference even though the actually temp and heat index is higher. It still does not feel as hot as FL. Besides Spring, Fall and Winter more than make up for it. I love having 4 real seasons again!

Florida is not as hot temperature wise, but it is all year long. Maybe a break from the humidity in winter, but it is basically summer all year long! It gets real old.

WOW!!!!! I just looked at the temp for Murfreesboro, TN. It's 101 with a heat index of 110. Are you kidding? As bad as its been here, this week, we don't have weather like that in Knoxville. Why in the world do you live there?

I was born here, and can't afford to leave. Believe me, I want to! But not to Florida!

From central Florida, moving to Cookeville area. Having spent a large amount of time in Cookeville and living in central Florida since 1989 I can tell you, while the numbers might appear to be the same, at least in the areas I'm familiar with, it's a better climate in TN.

Florida just absolutely confines you to your house and your $1000 AC bill. I completely and totally abhor the weather here. The beaches offer a little respite but not much. Not near enough. You can't go outside at night!!!!!!!!!!! That's just miserable.

Went to a midnight showing of inception in shorts and a light weight button down shirt and sweated my ASS off in the 100ft walk between my car and the theater. Hell on earth.

And the winters here: Cold and windy. It might be 50 but the wind is kicking at 20mph it's impossible to enjoy it. The other problem is you'll awake to sub-freezing temps only to have it in the 70-80s by mid-day. Nightmare.

Summary: TN weather is not perfect but FAR more agreeable, to me, than Florida's.
