Which area of the state, city or town, is well known for their advancment and quality in medicine? Where would you want to be taken care of if something were to happen to you or your family?
Thank you for all your help!

Arguably, Nashville. However, I feel perfectly safe in Knoxville.

I would say Nashville or Knoxville. However I feel perfectly safe here in Johnson City, too. We have a strong healthcare system.

I'd have to agree Nashville and also Knoxville has been great for Bill's needs. Bill has serious heart problems. He has had procedures done in Nashville at Vanderbilt and also Knoxville at St. Mary's.
I cannot say enough good things about the medical community available in Tn. that we have come in contact with. They have sure saved Bill's life on more then one occasion.
To us we are grateful that Tn. has invested in establishing a strong medical community.
Pam

I would agree that Nashville is arguably the medical hub of the state. It has two medical schools (Vanderbilt and Meharry) and is also headquarters of the two largest hospital companies in America: Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) and Community Health Systems (CHS).

But I agree with the others, Knoxville has excellent hospitals including a huge University of Tennessee teaching hospital. The U.T. medical college, however, is in Memphis and is an excellent school.

Don't forget St. Jude in Memphis.

Downtown Nashville has 4 hospitals in a 4 mile radius (St. Thomas, Vanderbilt, Baptist, and Centennial) in addition to hundreds (if not thousands) of physician's offices in the same radius. I think TN is blessed with access to top knotch medical care in almost all parts of the state.

St. Thomas cardiology saved my hubby's life more than once. I've had complicated spine surgeries done in Centennial.... Both are wonderful. Both in Nashville.
