That's about what it is in my part of Tennessee. And it's not getting better. Last week an adjoining county lost another manufacturing facility and 300 jobs. Corporate showed up unexpected, made the announcement and left within 15 minutes. Reasons given were "the economy" and "reduced demand". They're preparing to ship the equipment to Mexico. The employees are in shock, there was no warning. The plant had consistently been rated as one of the top sites in the company.

My county is over 13 percent. The country and peace and quiet are wonderful, but lack of employment / income could be a bit of a problem for those thinking of moving here with no job lined up.

That's good news, at least, Laura. Yarddawg, that is just awful. Yes, mrs1885, that is the problem, usually, with secluded areas.

Amazingly, Knox County had the state’s lowest major metropolitan rate of 7.0 percent. It still means there are people out of work, but I've seen some friends find work. I hope it gets better soon for everyone. I really do.
