We'd like to get a shipping container to plop on our property for secure storage of our building materials.

Does anyone know of a source for these "conex" boxes and/or have any experience with them? I know there are tons of places that sell them and we're hoping not to spend a mint on the thing.

Doesn't need to be pretty - does need to be delivered.

Thanks in advance!

Are you needing that to be delivered to Kingston?
We got a 28ft Pup Trailer (yellow Freight) single axle delivered. We are going to have the axle removed and sit it on the ground. If you are interested I will send a DM to you. I'm not sure if the guy goes that far up but maybe he knows someone else that will.

Back in the 1990's I had to buy some to use as storage. I was the athletic director in a district in which some of our athletic facilities were located on both Indian rez land and Army Corps of Engineers property--we leased it for a buck a year. One of the restrictions the Indians had was that we couldn't dig on the property without their permission and if we came upon any artifacts we had to stop. The Army had the same restriction because of the Indian concerns.
So it about took an act of congress to get permission to build storage facilities. So I came upon that idea...no digging, just plop them down. Because they were ugly we put them behind buildings.

Three pieces of advice....while you can put directly on the ground, put them on cinder blocks, or something to get them up off the ground...it'll help with preventing the bottoms from rusting out, help cut down on insects inside (some), and help keep it a little cooler in the summer.
Secondly, if there is zero ventilation in there, get some, even if you are drilling holes and shielding them from rain. If you don't, the heat inside them in the summer will about knock you down and can negatively effect whatever you store in it.

Thirdly, get some desiccant for the inside. It'll help cut the dampness down prolonging the life of stored materials and lessen the likelihood of mold.

Good luck!

We got one of our second one here and we drove there and picked it out. It was in very good condition.
Glade Spring, VA - Turner Leasing Co, Inc. - Storage To Go

We got our first one here. They told us it was in good condition so we didn't go and look. It was pretty rough when it was delivered.
TEG Lease

You can also try CL for some really good deals especially if you don't need it delivered.
