Many websites state that you can go by boat from Lake Tellico to the Gulf of Mexico. I have searched the internet but cannot find the actual route from Tellico to the Gulf of Mexico. Does anyone here know where I can get a look at this route?

Thank you.

You need to search for info on the Tenn-Tom Waterway.
More info on that here:
TENN-TOM MAPS
and here:
Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway
And some good links to maps and books and other info here:
Alabama Waterways
See the bottom of the page.
It is doable. It's part of the working river system and there is a lot of barge traffic through it.
I know people who have done it. They said they enjoyed it but it took a long time going through all the locks and gas was expensive, but it was a beautiful trip through the South. You end up in Mobile Bay.

Leaving Tellico Lake hang a left at Ft Louden Dan and lock through. Proceed to Watts Bar Dam and lock through, Proceed to Chickamauga Dam and lock through, Proceed to Nickajack Dam and lock through, Proceed to Guntersville Dam and Lock through, Proceed to Pickwick Dam and lock through, then hang a left on the TN Tom Bigby Waterway, Proceed through several locks, Head out to Mobile Bay and then to the Gulf...... Hope this helps

Smile Sounds like a beautiful trip! I can cook.

This sounds like a wonderful adventure! Does anyone have a large boat we could borrow for about a month?

Are there actually many people who take this route to the Gulf? Any snags now with the lake levels so low?

Looks like we're relocating to Lake Tellico. I have a 26' Chaparral deck boat (55+ MPH) and would need to overnight onshore so I don't know how far we could actually get from a practical standpoint? Food for thought though.

Thanks for the info.

I have friends that have done this from Knoxville and from Chattanooga. Since the TN River is a Federal waterway the channel has to remain navigable. So no issues with levels.

I now have a Sea Ray 240 SD and I SOOOOOO wish I had my Chappy back. It performed so much better with the same 350Mag BIII set up. I've had a total of 4 Chaps. All great boats!

My Chappy deck boat has the 350/BIII setup, but has no cabin, I like it a lot.

How practical is it to get onshore to hotels along the way so we have a place to sleep?

Thank you.

If you look around on the Internet. I bet you could find a company for a fee that would set you up with a way point map for your lap top.......From departure too destination
