hello retirees, please tell me how I can move and leave kids and grandkids in another state???
My husband wants to go back to TN but my girls relocated here, in Kansas. was it difficult for you to leave your family,
my daughter does not want me to leave her and 2 grandchildren, and puts me on a guilt trip, I am raising anothers 9 year old son, should I separate the family by moving now?? Any advice?? We are torn, my grandson doesnt mind going, hes country at heart but hates to leave cousins and aunt

You might want to post this in the retirement forum where others are experience the same thing - moving away from kids/grandkids.

You have the same concern as my wife. However, my daughters will be 30 and 32 by the time we are able to retire in Tennessee and should be fine. It is not an easy decision to make, but you should also consider what will be best for you and your husband. We made a list of "pros" and "cons" about retiring in Tennessee. I believe we had about 14 things listed under the pros and 3 listed under the cons. You could always fly or drive back to Kansas several times per year for visits. Your daughter and grandkids could also visit you in Tennessee. I hope this helps.

This is why I am living in Tennessee now, to be near my family. You just have to look, honestly, at where you are and life and if being near family is more important than other things. Like, are you guys retiring to TN because you genuinely want a change of life, or are you doing so because it's the thing to do?

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Know what you mean...... "BUT" I hate be a meaneeeeeee..... But it's my time now!!! It may seem mean, but they have their life and I have mine. It's time too slow down and do what "I" want too do. I have 4 grand children 10-7-5-22mo. and a widow"er" I giving up a job and the grandchildren for what "I" want too do.Call me selfish but life short and "I" want too do what "I" want too do....... my 2 cents.......... Heading for the hills of Tennessee ASAP or when I can sell the house......
