We do have snakes, but from the sound of it not as many as your current home does. I saw one about a year ago and I had not seen one for years and have not seen one since. I'm sure they are more frequently seen in like woods, farm land, anything with more nature around it.

Snakes? Someone told me recently that there are 4,999 different snakes in the USA.... and that 5,000 of then live in Tennessee. I killed one recently within getting to my cabin in the Dunlap area, after being there 30 minutes, but did not see any more the week I was there. Actually, I believe there are only two varieties that are poisonous...I hate snakes big time.... but don't think it's any worse there.... unless you live in Alaska.... there's going to be snakes...

I have a pretty good reference book on the entire state. It's called Tennessee and it's by Jeff Bradley. He says there are 32 kinds of snakes in Tennessee of which 4 are poisonous: Copperhead, Timber Rattlesnake, Western Cottonmouth and Pigmy Rattlesnake.

What seems to help to keep snakes, rodents, etc away is to keep your property neat.

I have seen rattle, cooperhead, cotton-mouthed, king, garden and rat snakes in Tennessee.

Yes but for safety, it is not illegal to kill snakes if they are in your yard/property.

We had problems with rattlesnakes coming onto our house boat here in central California. We ordered a snake repelient called Snake-A-Way out of Florida that work great. I am sure you could find it back there.

Yeah.... I don't ever go out looking for snakes to kill... but if they are attempting to get into my house, garage, or truck.... and I have the means to dispatch them.... I don't really care whether it's legal or not....
