How did things go when you applied for the Knoxville PD?

My only advice would be to go with a city police dept., not the county departments.

My fiance applied with Knoxville PD and had a positive experience. However, they took too long to reply from his initial test and he was hired with Memphis PD.
It is a smaller department (than say Nashville or Memphis) of course, so they don't pay as well.

You don't hear much about the police in Knoxville, which is probably good. No scandals or things like that. I'm down at the courthouse every day for work and see a lot of officers, they're pleasant and competent. Quite a few women in uniform.
I took a night course at UT called CSI: Knoxville that was taught by a couple of KPD detectives who teach at the National Forensics Academy at UT.
National Forensic Academy
It's connected with the Body Farm.
I'm sure Knoxville has it's share of gangs and drug problems but compared to other places I've lived, it's minimal. Criminals here seem to be candidates for "Dumbest Criminals" lists rather than "Most Wanted." You don't get the daily random acts of violence or casual shootings you see in bigger cities.

There are a lot of female cops in Knox County, too. All the cops around here are very friendly. My husband works on a lot of their personal vehicles. In fact, he bought his vehicle from a female Knoxville officer.

I am an Officer and here is a website that I like to visit. Officer.com It has a lot of useful info. Click on the forum tab and then on local discussions. Then you can pick any state. I'll bet if you posted on that site, you would get a ton of people that will help you out. Good luck :-)
