Was wondering what small to moderate size Eastern Tennessee towns are you happy Tennessee retirees happy in? What is the most historic/scenic town for you and is there a good health care system where you are at? Thanks for any input and info...

Just in case no one answers you about healthcare, there is a website that grades hospitals all around the US on different kinds of illness/surgery. On this homepage below, choose the state. On the next page, select a procedure or diagnosis, then you will be asked to pick a part of Tennessee (Eastern Tennessee and Knoxville Area are 2 choices you might consider) and it will name the hospitals and locations and grade them on that illness or procedure.

http://www.healthgrades.com/

I just tried "Heart failure" for both locations and it gave hospitals in those locations a grade on both "in hospital" mortality and "in hospital plus 6 months" mortality (current year). You can also click on the tab for prior year evaluation, clinical excellence, patient safety, and specialty excellence.

Somewhere among those pages it tells you their methodology for assigning the grades.

Probably a good place to check if you are moving to a new location with an already diagnosed medical problem.

Default North of Chat

A: The towns seem to be quite similiar, people usually pick their hobbies. Tenn river waterfront is popular if you can afford or like fishing. Others want 5 or more arcres, then west to DUNLAP is the Sequitchie valley for privicy with a helicopter for medic if serious injury. All towns have good fire-rescue help. Major coverage is usually EMPIRE Blue Cross thru local medical office. Believ Chattannooga is head Quarters for BLUE CROSS and new $300 million complex down town has been anounced in newspaper, Times Free Press web site ? Dental coverage is spotty. Some do not accept NEW Patients, others not on board with CIGNA, which was popular in Florida. Do homework or switch at JAN for area you live ?? Some people now building on top of Walden ridge to look down on Brow lots, so no specific town, all have quante brick bldgs, some vacant, some being restored. Some BOOMERS also moving into City of Chattannooga for new riverfront condos, bike paths, socal arts, musuems, etc learning, Hiking, mtn bike popular. Church choice should also be a input rather than town name.
