Located about 30 mins south of Jackson TN
Need a small system pumped out (im pretty sure theres never been maintence done on this system espite what the sellers letter said...)

ill be calling some septic maint folks over the next few days to get some quotes but i HATE going in blind and ive never dealt with a septic system before...

So...
about how much shoudl i be expecting the quotes to come in for for a basic dig and pump job on a small system (the system services a 700sqft 2 bed house with a single bathroom. i figure system is probably designed for a family of 3-4 people max) (its currently supporting 1 but i dont think its had any love in a number of years)

again yes i will be calling for quotes...but im just trying to get an idea of what those quotes should come in at so i know if i get a quote for $600 for a basic pump out im being ripped off...

any ideas?

and any reccomendations too?!

wow huge difference...
So far ive called 10 places...
the cheapest ive gotten is $175 IF i dig up the acess myself...that same place wants $250 if they do the digging

i found another place that will dig and pump for $200...i tried digging myself, i found the tank (its concrete) but the ground is so hard and i have NO indication as to where the acess hatch is ill probably just have them come in and dig it and pump it for me...

I don't live in TN but we have to have ours cleaned and inspected every three years then send a inspection paper back to the county. The usual cost for us has been just under $200. each time.

That is the difference between TN and many other states, and why many people are moving to TN to get rid of stupid rules like that

well after calling around my BEST price was $175 if i dig...while i know where the tank is there is nothing visual to direct location of service hatch and with my back...
so $200 was the next best for them to dig, pump and remove any roots ect form around the baffles...*fingers crossed*

From my experience, once every 15 to 20 years is often enough to have a septic system pumped out. You're being ripped off.

East TN: 2 septics on the same property pumped out and it was $340. We called around and this was the going rate. We thought it was high but weren't in a position to wait around.
