Thanks
We took our little day trip to Cherokee Sunday. We left Gray TN at about 12:00 noon, went the scenic route, through New port, took 321. Through Gatlinburg, took our time through Smokie Mountain National Park, hwy 441, stopping at some over looks and gawked a while, it was such a gorgeous day! We got to Cherokee at about 3:00. I guess it took about an hour to get from park entrance to park exit in Cherokee.
There is lots more than the Museum in Cherokke.....mainly touristy, but some really nice shops and things, there is also the casino there if you like that.
Hope that helps!

Bryson City, now there's a nice town. You can take one of the scenic train rides from Bryson City. I did that last May.

Hwy 26 (another post) may be a nice road but right outside of Asheville it's a bleepin' nightmare, traffic-wise.

I SOOO agree! Once you hit that North Asheville area, grip that steering wheel tight and eyes wide open, even the ones in the back of your head! LOL.
But from North Asheville all the way up to VA, 26 is a MUCH better road through the mountains than 40's scarry switchbacks and semi traffic.
