P.S. Fortunately because of Clifton's location in the "horseshoe bend" of the river it is not "prone" to tornadoes. The river seems to have some protective effect on Savannah and Clifton although this is just ancedotal and not scientifically proven. Not saying that it couldn't happen, just that it is less frequent than in surrounding areas, particularly Adamsville in neighboring McNairy Co or Jackson, TN in Madison Co. seems like they get "shredded" more frequently.

Smile Clifton Tn

We live in Fl and are interested in property in West Tn. We are coming to look at some property in Clifton. Has anyone heard of this town? How far is it to a city with cultural type things? How far is Nashville? What is the cost of living like i.e property taxes , car ins, home insurance etc. Is Publix a grocery in Tn?

Any info regarding the are would be helpful. We would probably not be moving until we get ready to retire but we have children that may be interested and would still need to work. They are both firefighter paramedics. What is the work situation for that profession.

Thanks

Default My Parents Live There

Heehee, my parents would want me to tell you, "it's horrible and backward, stay far away", but honestly, it's a lovely place.

They are actually quite progressive, and looking to grow. It's still a very small town (prison population not included) and the people are friendly and personable. The prison is out of the way, and the inmates are not the dangerous type. There is a golf course there designed by Jack Nicklaus, and they're looking to improve a great deal more land in similar fashion.

There's not much for young folks to do there, but there are a lot of them, so you'll see kids strolling down to the river to fish, or cruising around in their cars (up and down, up and down) but they're not troublesome.

It's peaceful and quiet, and I would move there in a heartbeat. (My hubby isn't ready to move just yet, but we'll get there.)

My husband and I are also looking at the acreage and log cabin sale in Clifton. Alleycat was right - the City-Data homepage for Clifton gives alot of good info. You can also go to the Cityofclifton.com website or the cliftonchamber.com website for info. It appears that there are quite a few churches in Clifton but hardly any of them have a website so you really can't tell about location. We are in Central FL and are going to Clifton Nov. 10th. Are you going to that sale as well?

My husband and I are looking into the Clifton area to relocate. What can you tell us about your prospects and do you know anything about the land sale at Ross Creek Ridge?
