The Lookrock web cam (Foothills Parkway) shows no color. I'll be there 1st week of November. Any eye-witnesses?

and on a different note......... in December for some hunting (deer).

I can't tell you about East Tennessee, but here in Nashville we're probably running two weeks behind as far as the leaves changing color. Usually the last half of October is the most colorful here. At the moment there's some yellowing and browning due to the extreme drought, but only 5 to 10% of the leaves show any color. Many trees are still as green as their were a month ago. At soon as we get some extended cool weather that will change quickly however.

Not much here, either. Some dead brown leaves. Rumor has it that it's going to rain. We shall see.

We got some this morning. A nice little shower, but that was about it. It'll probably be over your way by this afternoon.

Look Rock is at 2600'. The story at Purchase Knob (4900') on the other end of the park is much different:

The colors have really exploded around Bristol, VA in the past two days. Some hillsides overlooking I-81 between exits 1 & 7 are 50-60% changed, with oaks & maples leading the way. Here's a cam shot of downtown Bristol, elev. 1680':

Trees on the lake at Bays Mountain Park in Kingsport are looking really good, I'll try to post some pics later this week. The leaves atop Holston Mountain (4200', between Bristol & Elizabethton) appear to have peaked already:

Conditions were near-peak on Roan Mountain (6200') when I visited 10/6.

Across the mtns. near Boone, NC, colors on Appalachian Ski Mtn. (4000') are peak or near-peak:

Alleycat: The rain is dissipating as it reaches our area. What else is new?

I take it back. The leaves are turning. I'd post a picture of my backyard, but it doesn't look that great. However, I saw some fairly decent foliage on the way home.

OK it's official. We'll head up next week. The 27th. The kids will be happy. They get to do Halloween in TN for the first time.
