Well, not unexpectedly, nothing much happened here in Nashville. Most of the heavier storms went north into Kentucky. We got a little rain and that was about it.

This is why we take dire weather warnings with a grain of salt here, especially the TV weather. Stay aware when there's bad weather predicted, but don't panic about it.

The news this morning is reporting that there were a couple of trees knocked down along with the power lines and that a few people still have their power out. Most of the damage seems to be around the Music Row/Midtown area. According to the "experts" they're quoting on the news, the trees are weaker than normal due to the drought conditions we've had.

There was some more serious damage up in southern Kentucky around Owensboro. There were some injuries, but no deaths in Kentucky. There were some deaths reported in Missouri and Michigan.

I heard (second-handedly) that we had tornado watches up here in Washington Co. too.

Yep, jab, that's true. It should be moving out of your area very soon.

Alleycat: when you notified us of the watch, I checked the radar and a nasty purple blob (usually means tornadoes) was right over Owensboro.

Thanks for letting us know what happened!

Well, there were some problems in Nashville (mostly a few trees knocked over and power lines down) but very little out my way.

I was planned on doing a running commentary, but it was kind of a dude where I live (not that I'm disappointed in that fact).

I wasn't trying to make light of the threat that tornadoes pose, just pointing out that they're not the terror to the area that some people not familiar seem to think they are. Yes, someone needs to remain aware, but hopefully they're aren't something to scare you to death (no pun intended).

Actually, they do scare me to death, but, then again, I'm neurotic!
