I need your opinion. What provider has the best reception and price for a smartphone in Southeast TN? Prepaid or contract either way

In my experience Verizon has the best rural reception, but it really depends on your exact location. Sometimes there are holes in the Verizon network where AT&T is better. See the phone coverage maps link I posted in the other thread (on internet options).

Sprint and T-Mobile have very poor rural coverage in general (unless they've greatly improved in the past few years). Only get them if you'll never stray far from large cities and the Interstate.

The cheapest would probably be one of the pay-as-you-go plans that use the Verizon network.

I use Virgin prepaid which uses Sprints network. Rural sucks. Works great in Kingsport area and Johnson City but when I hit Erwin... almost nothing to nothing. Sprint does not have 4G set up around here either. I actually like my phone and plan (Data plan) though since I only hit Erwin every once in a while.
