I'm having a horrible time finding a Teaching position. I keep being told the same thing....you need to move here first...yes, even to get an interview. Sad.

Anyone have better luck?

Does Education not understand that not everyone wants to stay in their hometown or state they graduated it? And not everyone is crazy enough to move without a job?

My husband had a terrible time, couldn't land a job from out of state. He has a Masters in Ed leadership, 4yrs in Administration, 7yrs in the class room. Received his TN License to teach any where from k-12 with different subjects, and his TN Administrators license. He applied for both classroom jobs and Admin jobs. He either had no response or he received one email back that said he didn't meet the criteria ???? We couldn't figure out what that meant ! He even called HR for the school district and they said he didn't everything right and qualified! Not sure where you are looking, but his experience was with Williamson, Maury county and I think one other that was in the area, didn't apply in Davidson though, maybe he should have !? I was even living in Williamson county at the time, but since he was unable to find a job I had to unfortunately move back , blah..... hope you have better luck !!! Maybe someone else who had better luck will read your post and give some advice !

Pretty sure if you go check out some other forums, especially the work forum, you will notice that this problem is not restricted to the field of education, or to the state of TN.

It's tough when unemployment in the entire country is as high as it is. Really difficult to justify hiring an out of state employee when there maybe local employee's out of work. I know it's not what you want to hear, but it's the state of things in the new economy.

My wife and I are fortunate enough to work for large companies that let us work from home, so we just moved here. I have no doubt that if my wife needed to find a new job here in the Knoxville area she could do it, but she has a TN drivers license now
