I am so glad you love Tennessee. I moved to Nashville almost 25 years ago from Louisville, KY where I was born and raised. While Louisville will always be special to me I fell in love with Nashville and the state of Tennessee. Although I don't know the exact health problem your youngest son has, I am sure you can find a doctor for him either in Hendersonville or Nashville. Vanderbilt has an outstanding medical school as well as an outstanding hospital. There is also Baptist/St. Thomas and Centennial/TriStar. And there are plenty of doctors of all specialties.

As another Ny're, NOT NYC and Long Island is a burrow of NYC, NYers outside of NYC, are not abrasive and loud and rude, so don't say your husband is a typical NYer, he's a typical NYC , here's a clue, the rest of the state doesn't like him.

I wouldn't have looked at the agent as wasting my day or time, everything is negotionable, I would have b slapped a "typical difficult self".

Please don't judge all people that live n NY by nasty rude NYC.

My biggest concern is my son has Moderate to Severe Crohn's Colitis. He receives Remicade infusions at he hospital every 8 weeks. This is covered under out BCBS. But we can't find a Gastro specialist that accepts our insurance and the appt fees for regular check ups aren't bad. It's the cost of endoscopes and colonoscopies that are scaring us a little. For get it if he ever needs a dissection, (you know what I'm talking about). Very scary thought how that can put you in debt real quick.

Just need to find a OBGYN, Dermatologist, Audiologist and Gastroenterologist who accepts our insurance. Not having and easy time as of yet

Ahahahahaha, good one. Ya got mr.

Wait, are you telling me not to label? Hehehehe

My husband is retired from the NYPD and he can be blunt, crude and abusive but that comes with dealing with people who are never guilty of anything and mostly on the wrong side of law. It tends to takes it toll. .

But on the other hand, he is a true mans man, loves hunting and his cigars, loyal husband and father, friendly and has everyone he meets in stitches. Great sense of humor. Most men love him.

I don't speak for all NYers, and yes, Long Islanders are a class of their own. Just commenting on mine dear one

I didn't understand the majority of that because I don't have an MD degree. However it seemed to need a specialist that you had to travel for, would that be different anywhere else?

My son is 19 now but was diagnosed at 12. We have everything we need, hospital, nurses, and specialists within a 10 min ride but our insurance is accepted widely through NY state.

I think it's the 'finding one (or in this case several) who takes our insurance' is the trick. Seems like every year it get's more difficult to find doctors that accept a wide range of insurance providers. Who wants to drive any further than they have to in order to get all their needs met. I think it's a very good idea to check that aspect of a move, since it might make a lot of difference as to how much drive time they might be looking at on a regular basis.

Yes, I agree. Florida was no problem with our insurance but the lifestyle for young men was not promising. We were looking close to or in 55+ communities. Have to cut the umbilical cord soon

We need to find a balance for them and us. Tennessee really does seem like a good fit for all of us.

God bless your husband, probably one of the hardest jobs in the world. keep us safe, how dare you for keeping us safe!!! They have a hard job and get a raw deal for sure.
But are so compassionate.

Let me tell you a story of another side and the compassion of NYPD. my son and his gf went for a weekend, he lost(probably was stolen) his wallet. A woman that I am very grateful toward found it and gave it to a policeman. That officer could not quickly find my son through his license that was left in his wallet, but he did call AA because he saw that card. They called my husband, who immediately cancelled our CC, and called our son and gave him the contact info of the police officer. my son called him and retrieved his wallet and important ID. Cash of course was gone, what a world huh, but that NYPD went above and beyond as far as I'm concerned.
