We're making a couple of trips down Tennessee-way from Kentucky over the next week or two, and were wondering how the fall colors are coming together in our neighboring state. We're really not getting very much up here. Are y'all as late as we are? We're coming down to Nashville this weekend, and I hope to catch some colors on that one, but I know we may be too early. We're also planning a trip to the Smokies, and that one we have a little more flexibility on, so we could plan it around the colors if we have an idea of how they're running. What are y'all seeing in your area?

Thanks!

I am in Cumberland Co. about midway between Nashville and Knoxville and the leaves are just starting to change. Hopefully the cold snap will help them along.

About the same here in the tri-cities. The cold snap seems to have kicked some of the trees into changing, but it also seems like there are more leaves on the ground than left on the trees. I get the feeling it's going to be a brief show this year.

Yeah, we're getting the same thing in Kentucky this year. It's very odd. At this point it almost doesn't matter when they turn, because there aren't any left on the trees. They're going straight from green to gone. I was hoping it would be different down your way, but perhaps this just isn't going to be the year for good colors.

Thanks for the information, though!

Northern Middle TN is just starting to turn a little. Still probably 10 days off from good coloring.

The hard frost zapped a lot of my plants and the crape myrtles. There IS color in the hills. It's kinda dull unless you hit a sunny day. I also think it's going to be brief. But it feels 'fally' at the moment!

Some color in the Smokies, but this looks like a dull year, as it were

The color is at peak in Johnson City and much of NE Tennessee. I posted some pics in these threads:
