The casino in Cherokee has no table games as far as I know. No reason for me to go there. If I can't play Blackjack I don't bother. Slots are boring (to me).

As for improvements. Our area has seen them, but our casino is not Indian-owned.

I don't remember but the Cherokee website says table games, live dealers and real chips. Of course, I've never seen a dead dealer and fake chips soooooo, I'm not sure what they are trying to say.

It's a while since I looked at their site, but I seem to remember live dealers (not zombies), real chips (not cow chips), but there weren't any cards. All the dealing was done on a video machine.

Yeah, let's not rig the outcome of that hand!

Yeah, I was right:

"Harrah's Cherokee Casino & Hotel invites you to join in on the fun and excitement of table games. With live dealers and real chips, our modern style table games offer a unique format of traditional table games but with the latest interactive video technology. Whether your an experienced player or new to table games, every hand is a new opportunity to win!"

Not in my lifetime. I'd rather stay home and play poker.

This is real Las Vegas style gaming. While, I haven't been, a number of friends have gone and they enjoyed the gambling and the hotels.

In Nashville, they have basically free bus rides to Metropolis and Tunica.

Each to their own; personally, I think casino gambling is for those who don't believe in math. At the same time, I don't think there's anything wrong with "recreational gambling". If there was a horse track here I'd probably go and drop a few bucks on some nag who comes in dead last. "Hey, I put two dollars on Glue Factory to win!"

Tunica is nothing like Vegas gambling. Yes, the casinos in Tunica have every table game and slot machine imaginable, but they also have miles and miles of cotton fields in between each casino, and absolutely nothing else going on other than the gambling. It's in the middle of no where. Don't get me wrong - I go all the time, but I also would not ever call it a "destination" type of place like Vegas.

Thanks for the input. I wasn't trying to upset anyone with just the pure mention of "casino", my husband likes to play cards every now and then which is the reason for the question.

Cool there's good in everything

I respectfully understand some of you "disliking" the idea of casinos in your state for the people you think they bring or the problems that come... let just tell you... the people have problems no matter what - statistically problem gamblers make up only 1% of casino patronage. Some of the safest areas in any city/town/area are where the casinos are... think about how much security and/or protection there is. The safest place to visit in detroit is the 6 block radius where their casino district is... you can even get a personal escort from door to door and the number of cameras watching for "trouble" is amazing... and let me just add this... the city I live in mandatorily contributes money to the city 7.5 million last year alone which is divied up by the Lottery Corporation to non profit organizations for many many many different things... so many volunteer organizations I work for would be non existent if it weren't for gaming funds... now tell me... do you still think its all bad... for a state with few social services think what the money could do???? Instead of having so many bus tours out of state keep your own dough!!!!
