My husband is being transferred to Midway Tn from east Tx. we wouldn't mind being about an hour out just wondering where to look we also live in a very small rural town( pop. 1,096) and we love to hunt, fish, hike and generally enjoy the outdoors. We would like some property(currently own 15acres with a stocked pond and a creek with chickens and a great garden) not sure where to look. Hoping for low crime. We currently druve 35-40 minutes to do our shopping. Our income is around 95k yearly. Love Tn my entire life. Grew up in Ky and spent all my childhood visiting Tn. Our grown children are in Sc and my family still in Ky so Tn will be great for being centrally located between the two. We recently drove thru the area coming from SC but didn't have time to look much. I'm Planning a trip back in June but I'm hoping to know where to look. Thanks for the help in advance

Ok this may sound like a stupid question but if your husband is being transferred to Midway why not move to Midway.
Well that's not a stupid question but we don't want to live in town and everyone keeps saying go to Greenville or a few other areas because we want to be out where we can hunt on our own property etc. love rural living and Midway didn't seem like it was very rural. He currently drives 45-60 minutes to work twice a week. I've heard that Greenville has high crime im just trying to get a good idea of where to look to be able to enjoy the outdoors. We love the mountains and such.

Midway is not the big of a town. In my experience even if you are technically in a town/city often a stones throw away as the crow flies you in the boonies. Probably just about any of the smaller towns/communities around Midway would be suitable. I technically live in Monterey, because that's the nearest post office, population about 2500-3000 (with recent immigration) 5miles out in any direction your in the boonies.
You mentioned Greenville (Greeneville?). Are you talking about Midway in Greene County? There's also a Midway in Washington County, and sounds from the above poster like there's a Midway around Putnam County too. Probably should specify where you're talking about.
