Well, hello out there in Tennessee. The main reason we want to get out of Wyoming is the wind! It is a usual 35+ miles per hour and gusts to 55. I could probably tee it up and hit a 400yd drive today-or a negative-100 yarder if I was hitting into the wind. How is it in your neck of the woods? My wife delivers the mail and most of it is "air" mail today

On the City-Data.com website at the link below, you will find many graphs showing weather information for the Cookeville, TN area, one of which privides average wind speeds from month to month. You can pull up this same information for many cities and towns in Tennessee.

It's been really windy here in Memphis lately - at least when it's been warm enough to play. I'm a terrible wind player. I hit the ball high...can't hit a knockdown shot to save my life.

Usually around here it's breezy in the Spring and Fall (but not usually as strong as what you're describing). Once Summer arrives and the heat and humidity sets in, there barely a gust to be found...

We do get a little break from the wind in the summer. Usually when the wind stops blowing in WY many fall down!!!!! I would imagine it would be nice to have a little breeze in the sultry summertime in TN.

I don't golf, but I have a lot of friends who do. The weather here doesn't seem to stop them much. If anything, it being rainy at times in the spring and fall probably keeps them from golfing more than wind alone. Not always, but generally in the warmer months when we have noticeable winds here we also have storms or rain. At other times the wind is generally light to moderate.

My golfing buddies are sure going to be out this coming weekend.

Thats ok MrCartPath If we were good we would have to be on National TV making millions. I got really serious about golf once - then realized it was more fun to be a hacker since I'd never make pro anyway - I get more strokes per $$$$ and my stress level went way down!!!! Good luck to you. What are the best courses in Tennessee for a mid 90's player?

I've only played a few courses in TN outside the Memphis area....Two Rivers and the Hermitage in Nashville, and the public course in Smyrna.

Several years ago I made a project of playing every course within about a 1-2 hour drive from Memphis on a regular basis (I was playing 100+ rounds per year). During that period I did a website that was a Memphis area golf course guide - giving information about the course, along with my personal description and review. I let that site die in 2003 since I was no longer playing all those courses on a regular basis - and out of date websites are a pet peeve of mine. I did save the pages...and the remains of that site are on my personal site. If you're interested, you can go to http://home.comcast.net/~josephgreed/, scroll to the bottom of the page, and you'll find a link there to that site. I just looked at it myself for the first time in a few years....the site looks terrible! Way too busy looking....especially the main page!

When I was younger my dad dropped a hint about my golf game...he sold my clubs! lol
Actually I can get rid of the wind in my golf game if I want to. I just grab my Wii remote and click "start over"! lol
