Info on Englewood, TN? (Knoxville, Chattanooga: crime rates, buying a house, buying)

I was looking into moving to Tennessee and came across a few houses in the Englewood area that seem like good deals. I would obviously visit the area to check it out before buying a house but was hoping to get a vibe from people who have been in the area before.

I work from home so finding a job isn't a concern.

1) I would like a quiet, safe, affordable, small town to live in. Englewood seems to have pretty good crime rates compared to the rest of TN. When I looked into Athens, I was shocked at the crime rates. Is Englewood really that much safer when it's just 10 minutes from Athens?

2) Google isn't always accurate so Englewood is about an 1 hour from Knoxville, Chattanooga and the Smoky Mountains?

3) Any other info or opinions from people who have lived/visited there?
