Hello everyone! My husband and I are taking a vacation next year to Gatlinburg, TN. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on places to go or things to do. We are up for just about anything, so anything that is a must see or a must do, please let me know!! Thanks!

Get a cabin, park the car and just walk, you will find enough to do and see to fill up a week! Do make sure to drive up the Smokie Mountain Park Way and see Cherokee for a day too. There are a million and one things to do just down the Road in Pigeon Forge too. Most of all, relax and have fun!

Dollywood is a good place to start even if you don't have kid(s). It'll take a good full day to do that theme park. They have chalets all over in/around Gatlinburg if you want to lodge in style. They have plenty of lodges/motels on the strip in Pigieon Forge or Gatlinburg. Some of these places have trolley service right from the lodge which makes a difference in Gatlinburg, lots of ground to walk/cover there. The ski-lift(in Gatlinburg)is good to go on at night, really pretty to see the town lit up at night. Also, they have a tram-way in Gatlinburg, a must-do. The Ripley's Aquarium is a MUST! If you want to ride horses, they have ranches just outside of Pigieon Forge and also on the N.C side of the Smokies. If you want to get remarried/renew vows or just to get married, there's wedding chapels around. Many good restaruants to choose from-heck, they have a Mexican restuarant down there.

If you want to gamble, right across the Smokies in Cherokee,N.C., there is a casino.

I've been going down there for over 20 years of my life. It is the romantic spot to take a love one in the south. The place has grown considerably hence even more stuff to do.

Cades Cove and Roaring Fork motor nature trail are must-do's. My two favorite areas to explore.

Definitely go to Cades Cove (take 321 south to 73 west toward Townsend)! Also there is the Roaring Fork auto tour out of Gatlinburg that takes you through some beautiful scenery, old homesteads, etc.

Oops..sorry Alison, I didn't read your post before answering.

Weather permitting a drive on the BlueRidge Parkway is a must! Maggie Valley and Waynesville are great places to drive through, small shops and great places to eat. You can't go wrong in that area, but like the other person said, relax and have FUN!!
