Another one of these lists. This one uses more than just standardized test scores to come up with its rankings. Its methodology:

50% - test scores
10% - health and safety
10% - student culture and diversity
10% - student, parent, and alumni surveys
10% - teacher grade
5% - resources and facilities
2.5% - extracurricular activities
2.5% - sports and fitness

Of the 141 school districts in Tennessee, here are the top 20:
  1. Maryville City Schools
  2. Kingsport City Schools
  3. Greeneville City Schools
  4. Williamson County Schools
  5. Oak Ridge City Schools
  6. Johnson City Schools
  7. Rutherford County Schools
  8. McKenzie City Schools
  9. Alcoa City Schools
  10. Trousdale County Schools
  11. Shelby County Schools
  12. Bradford City Schools
  13. Knox County Schools
  14. Tullahoma City Schools
  15. Lawrence County Schools
  16. Putnam County Schools
  17. White County Schools
  18. Hamblen County Schools
  19. Bristol City Schools
  20. Sumner County Schools

The whole report:

PS I assume some of these stats were from before Memphis City Schools were absorbed by Shelby County Schools and before the smaller towns in Shelby County formed their own school systems.

Its nice to see so many East TN school districts on the list. Its also nice to see Rutherford County in the top 10 considering that's where I live now.

I love these lists you post!

Yep. I'm betting Germantown and Collierville's schools would be towards the top of the list if it were updated. If you look at the school rankings in Shelby County, the schools located in Germantown and Collierville are at the top, so I'm sure they were bringing up Shelby County schools as a whole.

Wilson County was #21, which isn't surprising, considering that Wilson and Sumner schools tend to run hand-in-hand.

And I know you're joking about Lebanon -- but it's true. They're killing the district. (And so is Watertown, if I remember correctly.)
