Hi everyone, we are considering moving to SE Tennessee from Florida (both born and raised here and hating it more and more everyday). We are torn between SW NC and SE TN. Does anybody have any suggestions for good towns in that area? The closer to the Smoky Mountain Natl park... the better! :~) We are a young couple with a 6 year old son. The main things we are looking for are....

Good schools (I think all are better then Floridas)
decent house prices (were paying $900 for a crappy 2bedroom in Tampa)
jobs (healthcare/daycare/computer/screen printing)

Any advice and comments would be much appreciated!

Western North Carolina has been priced out of sight, especially the Asheville area. Murphy has also gotten pretty expensive. There are a lot of healthcare jobs available in ET for those with the requisite skills. Daycare will likely be minimum wage. For print shop work you would probably have to talk to the businesses themselves.

Hi,
You might want to consider the Chattanooga area - its has a number of excellent small towns surrounding it. We live in Dunlap, which is about 30 miles NW of Chattanooga. We're on one of the mountains (they are small compared to the Rockies, but seeing them smoke early in the morning, just warms your heart). Chattanooga has lots of jobs in the healthcare field and I believe a couple of printing companies - would be worth checking into.
Good Luck!!
