Here's an opportunity to keep Tennessee beautiful, especially in the Coal Mining areas and to protect our waters that flow from those areas.

A bill to ban mountain top removal coal mining (SB3822) will face its first committee hearing before the Tennessee Senate Environment, Conservation, and Tourism Committee on Feb. 6, 2008 at 11:30 in room 12 of the Legislative Plaza in Nashville.

Committee members are Tommy Kilby , Chair; Dewayne Bunch, Vice-Chair; Doug Jackson, Secretary; Raymond Finney, Roy Herron, Bill Ketron, Steve Roller, Steve Southerland and Mike Williams.

I for one hope this passes! I will write my letter for sure! Thanks for posting this. I say leave our mountains alone. Don't mine them, build on them, log them. Please leave them to there current owners: the bear, raccoons, fox, mice, birds and snakes. Everyone needs a home, leave theirs alone.
